How to Prepare for Disney Cruise Online Check-In

Writer: Liz BarbeeLiz Barbee

Embarking on a Disney Cruise is an exciting adventure, but before you can set sail, you'll need to complete the online check-in process. Doing this ahead of time will ensure a smoother embarkation day and let you focus on the fun. Here’s everything you need to know to be fully prepared for Disney Cruise Line’s online check-in.

When Can You Check In?

Online check-in opens at different times depending on your Castaway Club status and stateroom category:

  • First-time Disney cruisers: 30 days before sailing

  • Silver Castaway Club Members: 33 days before sailing

  • Gold Castaway Club Members: 35 days before sailing

  • Platinum & Pearl Castaway Club Members: 38 days before sailing

  • Concierge Guests: 40 days before sailing

Check-in becomes available at midnight Eastern Time on your designated day, so it’s a good idea to set a reminder!

What You’ll Need for Online Check-In

Before you begin, gather the following items to make the process seamless:

1. Selfie (Security Photo)

You'll need to upload a recent, passport-style photo of each traveler. Make sure it meets these guidelines:

  • Plain background

  • No hats or sunglasses

  • Full face visible with a neutral expression

2. Travel Documents

Ensure you have the correct travel documents ready for each member of your party. This includes:

  • Passport (highly recommended) or Birth Certificate & Government-Issued ID (for U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises)

  • Visa (if required for your itinerary)

  • Parental Consent Forms (if a minor is traveling with only one parent or guardian)

3. Flight & Transportation Details

If you are flying in for your cruise, you’ll need:

  • Your arrival and departure flight details

  • Information about any pre- or post-cruise hotel stays

  • Whether you’ll be using Disney Cruise Line ground transportation

4. Credit Card for Onboard Charges

You'll set up your onboard account by linking a credit card for any purchases made while sailing.

5. Emergency Contact Information

Disney Cruise Line requires an emergency contact who is not sailing with you.

6. Port Arrival Time Selection

During check-in, you'll choose your Port Arrival Time (PAT). This is important because it determines when you can board the ship. Earlier slots fill up quickly, so log in as soon as your check-in window opens!

Steps to Complete Online Check-In

  1. Log in to your Disney Cruise Line account on the website or app.

  2. Enter traveler details including name, passport info, and emergency contact.

  3. Upload security photos for each traveler.

  4. Provide travel details including flights, hotels, and transportation plans.

  5. Set up your onboard account with a credit card.

  6. Select your Port Arrival Time (earlier times go fast!).

  7. Review and submit your check-in.

Final Tips for a Smooth Check-In Process

  • Start check-in as soon as possible to get an early boarding time.

  • Use a desktop or laptop instead of a mobile device for easier uploads.

  • Double-check document uploads to ensure clarity and accuracy.

  • Take your security photo in advance to avoid last-minute scrambling.

  • Print your boarding documents after check-in to have them ready at the port.

By preparing ahead of time, you'll breeze through online check-in and be one step closer to an unforgettable Disney Cruise adventure. Bon voyage! 🚢✨
